INSTRUCTIONAL (ADULT & YOUTH) – Application Form
Currently TAS has youth and adult instructional programs on Saturday mornings at Banneker Tennis Courts, 2500 Georgia Avenue, NW. It is the largest and most intensive program of its kind in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Tennis instruction for all skill levels from beginners to advanced players is offered. The Program also offers calisthenics, drills and varied competitive formats. The season is culminated with the annual intramural tournament, awards presentations and recognitions activities.
The youth program has two consecutive classes (each planned for 7 to 12 children) on Saturday mornings. The children and the classes are age and ability grouped depending on the day’s participants. Youth activities are modified by kid-friendly instructors from Saturday to Saturday to keep the program exciting. By the end of the summer we want each kid to be able to play tennis on an advanced beginner level, and to have experienced a fun summer activity.
For youth with some tennis experience TAS promotes Jr Team Tennis. JTT is a program of instruction and drills coaching youth who plan to compete on high school and college teams. Tennis At Shiloh youth play in leagues against other Washington area teams.
Quickstart tennis for novice 7 to 12 year olds is a format which emphasizes fun, competition, and instant tennis play. Using smaller court, smaller rackets, colorful foam balls, and a 1/5 teacher/student ratio young people experience court success on the first days of instruction. The program is free for all young people.
All lessons are free, Tennis At Shiloh memberships are suggested to support the youth program. Click here to Support

BENEFITS OF CARDIO TENNIS
All evidence indicates that to improve overall health and to reduce the risk of heart disease we need at least 30 (up to 60) minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise ...most if not all days of the week. CardioTennis can go a long way toward helping you realize this health benefit ...while giving you a complete workout. To improve fitness and reduce future health risks it is desirable to have the person elevate the heart rate into their individualized aerobic target training zone ...and stay there. CardioTennis will elevate a person's heart rate into their aerobic zone.
Participants consistently elevate their heart rates into their aerobic training zone.
It is much more fun than working out on a machine or other fitness activities.
You get short cycles of high intensity workout and periods of rest, almost like interval training.
It is a fun, group activity where players of all abilities enjoy tennis together.
While you are playing tennis, the focus is primarily on getting a great workout.
You naturally improve your game because you hit so many balls and repeat various shots.
WINTER TENNIS PARTIES
TAS hosts monthly tennis parties on weekends during December 2009, January, & February 2010. Past events have been held at Southeast Tennis & Learning Center, Fairland Sportsplex, Watkins Regional Park, University of Maryland, and Mt. Vernon Tennis Complex.
